We have been keeping American Sable rabbits since the fall of 2004. This breed is on the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy list in the 'Study" category.
There are only a handful of breeders of American Sables in Canada. Bill Mairs, Rick Stahl and myself are currently showing Sables at the Pacific Northwest shows (Washington).
I feel it is important to keep this beautiful breed going. The more the Sables are exhibited, the more likely other breeders will take an interest in them and perhaps decide to take home a few.
My Sables are good breeders. The does I've had so far have been reliable mothers, producing 8-10 bunnies per litter.

Fun E Farm's Chip This outstanding buck will turn senior soon. He has been shown a WSRBA convention and GNWRCB in WA. and has three BOBs and a BOS with competition to his credit . He was seriously considered during BIS judging by both judges (Brad Boyce and Eric Stewart) Chip's sire is Bill Mair's National convention winning buck and his dam is a Karen Freeman doe. Sables come in three colour varieties, since the colour Sable does not breed true. The pink one will look like a Californian in colour. The dark ones are Seals. The silvery gray babies are the ones we can show!
